Salary: £42,000 per annum based on experience + overtime + pension

Hours: 45 hours per week full time

Sesame Access Systems Ltd is an ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 company that designs, fabricates, installs and maintains bespoke disabled access wheelchair lifts. Our unique products enable people in wheelchairs to access any building, at any time, through the front door. Reliability of our lifts is paramount for disabled people and our building owners. Therefore, we need proactive, motivated, highly qualified staff to join our team and ensure our lifts are never out of service. You will be essential to the success of the company.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

This role is responsible for manufacturing and servicing Sesame lifts, with leading on hydraulics for Sesame. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hydraulic Engineer to join our engineering team.

The ideal candidate will follow the current design of Sesame lifts, and implement future hydraulic design developments. This will include analysis, and implementation of hydraulic systems and structures, to meet Sesame lift build requirements from Sesame drawings. This involves work on Sesame bespoke wheelchair lifts. The role also includes site work, to service Sesame lifts and cover any call outs related to hydraulics.

Hydraulics:

• Manufacture Sesame lifts in the workshop

• Be the lead engineer for Hydraulics for Sesame

• Design, model, and implement hydraulic systems for Sesame lifts

• Perform hydraulic analyses as required

• Collaborate with Sesame Designers and Engineers on manufacturing projects, whilst leading on hydraulics for Sesame.

• Train other staff on hydraulics, especially our two Degree Apprentices

• Responsible for managing and maintaining a good level of hydraulic stock, in collaboration with Sesame’s Purchasing Department.

• Communicate and record any issues found within the hydraulics/manufacturing process that Sesame can learn from (continuous improvement)

Hydraulics Engineer and Servicing

• Assist with the servicing of Sesame lifts, including preventative maintenance.

• Assist on call-outs on Sesame lifts, within Service Level Agreement (SLA) deadlines

• Ensure thorough servicing reduces call-outs on lifts.

• Communicate issues found on site, as per Sesame’s procedures

• Assist with identifying, communicating and implementing actions required to reduce call outs (LEAN)

• Work with Service Teams Managers to manage out-of-call-out risks

• Training and development

• Excellent communication with Colleagues and Clients

• Your day will start and end at the Sesame workshop

Additional Duties

• Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment

• Any other duties as requested by the Head Engineer

Qualifications

• Qualified in English & Math to CSE, O-Level, GCSE level.

• BFPA level 2 Hydraulics qualification, or CETOP Level 2 hydraulics qualification, or equivalent.

Or qualified by experience.

• Previous experience in hydraulics and engineering essential

• Previous experience in fabrication advantageous

• 5+ years of experience in hydraulic engineering.

• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics.

• Excellent problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Key Points

• 20 days annual leave. Three of these days are automatically deducted for the period December 24th and January 2nd. The successful applicant will have 17 days to use throughout the working year.

• Workshop days: 07:00 – 16:00, site Days 06:00 – 15:00 Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays. Paid overtime is available

• There is a company-wide profit-related bonus policy, paid annually (subject to Management discretion).

• Appraisal every six months. The first six months of employment are considered the probationary period; salary will remain the same.

• The starting salary is £42,000 per annum based on experience + overtime + pension. Additional salary could be paid for exceptional candidates.
