At Sesame Access, we're proud to champion inclusivity, independence, and human potential in all its forms. We want to celebrate Alison, our Director of Commercial Development, and her recent incredible achievement of completing the 2025 London Marathon!
Running a marathon is no small feat. It demands months of training, mental grit, and a serious level of commitment. While the goal may be to cross the finish line, the meaning behind running a marathon goes far deeper. It was truly inspiring to witness thousands of runners and their friends and families come together in support of so many powerful causes.
As a company dedicated to improving accessibility, we are always conscious of how we speak about physical achievements. We know that not everyone has the same relationship with their body. That’s why we want to approach this moment with care and gratitude.
Alison’s marathon experience reminded us just how fortunate we are when our bodies allow us to take on these kinds of challenges. It’s easy to take movement for granted, whether it's climbing stairs, walking to the shops, or pushing through 26.2 miles of London’s iconic streets. But moments like these offer us the chance to reflect on that privilege, and to feel a deep appreciation for the varied ways each of us experiences the world physically.
“Crossing that finish line was emotional, not just because of the distance covered, but because I was very aware of how lucky I am to even be able to attempt it. Working at Sesame, I'm constantly reminded that physical access isn’t equal for everyone. So this run was for all those still fighting for access and recognition.” Alison Lyons
It reinforces our mission at Sesame Access: to create inclusive spaces where independence is possible for everyone, regardless of mobility. This achievement is a powerful reminder of why our work matters, why we design lifts that disappear when not in use, why we challenge conventional design, and why dignity and equality are at the heart of everything we do.
We’re proud of her and every other marathoner for this incredible accomplishment, and even more so for the humility and awareness she brings to it. Whether you're running a marathon, navigating a world not built with you in mind, or advocating for change, you are pushing boundaries, and that’s worth celebrating.
Well done Alison!
