Process & Production Engineer

The Sesame Manufacturing team is looking for a candidate who is skilled at working in a fast-paced, dynamic engineering environment. This role will report to the Managing Director and requires an analytical approach to problem solving with strong project management and interpersonal skills. The Process & Production Engineer will reduce the amount of non-value added activities and standardize processes in the manufacturing & fabrication, installation, and servicing of Sesame Access products by working directly with build & site teams, as well as clients. The primary responsibilities of the Process & Production Engineer shall be divided between the main Sesame workshop, and on job-sites as follows:

Sesame workshop:

• Work directly with build teams and head engineer to identify problem areas in manufacturing. Perform RCA and facilitate action plans to methodically remove wasteful activities and standardise processes. This will also involve working with engineering and support teams up-stream from manufacturing, and management to support change(s)

• Perform quality control and FAT of R&D and standard commercial products with a view of inserting quality gates at logical points early in processes

• Work with purchasing and design teams to improve and standardize R&I and FAI processes

• Perform internal auditing of company policies & procedures against ISO9001 requirements. Work with all departments to update policies and create new ones where gaps are identified

• Report generation and presentation of data to all key stakeholders (VSMs, A3, RACI etc.) to create buy-in, track progress (Kanban), and present tangible savings

Site based:

• Work with clients, architects, and contractors to arrange installation of Sesame disabled access lifts into commercial, residential, and heritage listed properties throughout the U.K., Europe, and globally

• Perform on-site inspections (site readiness assessments) and surveys to assess logistics, compliance with specifications and technical drawings, H&S concerns, and tooling requirements for installation

• Work with installation teams to identify areas of risk originating both internally and externally, and take steps to methodically remove the items that cause delay and/or introduce variability (FMEA, SWOT, Gantt charts, etc.)

• Work with servicing teams to identify trends in component performance and life cycle(s). Identify areas for improvement within servicing team and feedback to manufacturing and design teams

Other duties include (but are not limited to): Cross training & coaching, technical product support, servicing of products, S&OP document review & generation, capacity planning, et al.

Qualifications

• Industrial engineering training (diploma or higher)

• 5+ years’ experience in an industrial engineering role

• Lean Six Sigma (green belt level or higher)

• Experience working with mechanical and hydraulic systems

• Experience working on a construction site

• Project management experience

• Excellent time management and organization skills

• Strong interpersonal and team building skills – (conflict resolution, generating buy-in, etc.)
