Today, the 8th of November marks the one-year anniversary of Alison Lyons receiving her OBE (Order of the British Empire) for her exceptional services to the Department for International Trade and individuals with disabilities.
On this day, Alison attended her investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, where she was presented with the award by King Charles III - a moment that not only honoured her personal dedication but also highlighted the incredible work of Sesame Access.
What is an OBE?
The OBE (Order of the British Empire) is one of the UK's highest honours, awarded to those who have made significant contributions to society. Established in 1917 by King George V, it recognises achievements in areas like public service, the arts, and business. Alison’s OBE places her alongside those who have had a lasting impact on their fields. As one of the highest civilian awards granted by the British monarchy, it symbolises a lifetime of exceptional service. Alison's OBE places her alongside those who have shaped industries and communities for the better.
Her recognition highlights the exceptional work she has done to improve accessibility and inclusivity, especially for people with disabilities. At Sesame Access, we’re proud to support Alison in her mission to create a world where everyone, regardless of ability, has the freedom to go wherever they want.
