Overview of the CPD

Sesame Access Systems Ltd works closely with architects to develop bespoke, invisible, high-quality wheelchair access lift solutions that complement the architecture of any building.

Our clients include the Sydney Opera House, the Bank of England, Kensington Palace, and Apple Stores throughout Europe and worldwide. In 2016, Sesame won The Queen's Award for Enterprise in Innovation. In 2022, Alison Lyons, Director of Commercial Development, was awarded an OBE for Sesame's international trade achievements.

Historic England and Historic Environment Scotland have approved Sesame lifts in many Listed Buildings across the UK, including Grade I Listed ones.

Sesame provides a free weekly RIBA CPD webinar on CPD 07 Inclusive Environments, which is one of the 10 Mandatory Annual RIBA CPDs. Sesame lifts fully comply with the relevant sections of BS6440:2011 and the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC), including relevant harmonised standards such as EN81-41.

Sesame Access designs and installs wheelchair lifts that comply with local standards worldwide, including those in the USA. Sesame Access’ Declaration of Conformity gives assurance that we comply with European Standards, including the European CE mark.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Overall, I find Sesame's products to be very innovative and exciting, these lifts provide a very elegant solution to a very serious problem that we as a society must address. It is usually extremely difficult to incorporate disabled access measures into listed buildings however bespoke products like this offer a much more realistic approach to disabled access whilst respecting the nature of listed buildings and being much less aesthetically intrusive than other methods such as ramps and contemporary lift systems. I will be keeping an eye on this company and looking forward to more innovation in the realm of disabled access.

I consider Sesame Access as a perfect example of a company that strives for innovation and social impact. Their British-made lifts are seamlessly merging with the aesthetic characters of any listed buildings. Their weekly CPD webinar on RIBA CPD07 Inclusive Environments (one hour long) is excellent – very informative and I learnt a lot about access for all.
